The Unexplained
By Emily Skira
What is unexplainable is unexplained
The unexplainable cannot be explained
So how can we contain
Our worries and fears of the unexplained
I’m constantly worried about the unexplained
Solving problems, clearing energy of solemn
To cope with the unexplained
Sometimes I dream of finding the explanation
Understanding our creations
Dive head first into the depths of our souls and brains
Find out if it can all be explained
See every part, and worry, and follow the path
To where it all leads back
But then I wonder
If I explained the unexplained would I then want to unexplain the unexplained?
For maybe the unexplained is rightfully so
And we really are not meant to know
But who can stop us from the curiosity
Of the world beyond what we see
For not knowing is to be protected
And knowing is to be aware
Yet not knowing creates anticipation, waitin’, being patient
And worrying for what is to come or what isn't
But once you know
There's no coming back from it
If the unexplainable could be explained would we even understand?
But if we didn't mention the unexplained, the world could be as happy as it can
For when we are children we don't really know,
We don't really care,
Always protected,
Never aware
But as children, we didn't understand
What it was like to live on this land
The complications and anticipations
And all around and in between
And some could argue that that’s not how the world works
But weren’t we happier?
Weren’t we happy to not know of the unexplained
And to not have to wonder or to wish
To not have to wish to get out of our own head
To not be told to get out of bed
Things are simple
Could I explain the unexplained?
Maybe, I could try
But I’d only wonder who’d be first to cry
Is it you? Or is it I?
The depth of emotion and the world who we are
None if it makes sense from the bugs to the stars
And the bugs in our brains and the stars in our eyes
Do you get where, why, my curiosity lies?
The unexplainable is something I may never understand
But the unexplained, might be something I can
