Skeletons

By: Maya Fraga

Things we bury will always be dug up.
Nothing stays hidden forever.
The things we bottle in fear or to protect.
They all find their way to the surface eventually.
You'll find someone you trust enough to share it with.
Or you'll find that the pain and fear will fade.
It will become less scary to share things you think may hurt forever.
The torture becomes a bruise in the corner of your mind.
The mouth you've sewn shut begins to fight to speak.
Don’t rush it. Let it heal at its own pace. Share what you can.
I'm hopeful that in the end, we'll be content even in the pain.
And I’m hopeful that all the things we bottle up will find their way out.
