By: Tanmeet Bahia

Valentine’s is a day celebrated by many worldwide, it’s a time to show your loved ones you care and has become coveted by couples. However, how did Valentine’s come to be? Well, there isn’t any confirmed origin, however, it's suspected that it may stem from the Roman festival, Lupercalia, which celebrates the incoming Spring and includes fertility rites and pairing men and women together. Although the name is predicted to derive from a Christian saint or priest named Valentine, but because of how many people there are who hold that name and have histories of romance, it’s unknown which one the holiday was meant for. Apart from Christianity, Valentine’s has also been tied with Romans in another way through their god of love, Cupid. In spite of not knowing the origins of this modern day of love, it’s still beloved by countless people.
