Fire And Ice
By: Emily Skira

In the start
It always seemed like we could make things work
From person to person
I help them or they help me
As we look past our differentiating personalities
In the start
It always feels like our differences can stay aside
From your “flaws” to mine
We always ignore what we don't like
As we try to build a relationship that feels destined to die
In the start
It always sounds like opposites attract
From you to me
We learn more about our other sides
As we try to believe that even though you’re fire and I’m ice, we’ll still be alright
But when your fire melts my ice
I have no choice but to burn out your flame with the remnants of myself
But now I am alone
Without you keeping me warm
But your burning made me into a new form
I can't tell if I like, but I sure feel less stiff
I’ll get used to the temperature now that you’re gone
